Ingredients:

2 small (400g) apples or pears

¼ cup (60ml) maple syrup, plus extra to serve

1¼ cups (185g) self-raising flour

¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

¼ cup (55g) caster (superfine) sugar

1 egg, lightly beaten

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

¼ cup (60ml) milk

¼ cup (60ml) vegetable oil
